Senior Pastor
Pastor Jonathan Peters has been serving here at FBCC since July of 1998. He is originally from Chicago Illinois but moved to the area when he started serving here as pastor. Jonathan graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Illinois and went on to get his MDiv from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas. He has served as Vice President of the Illinois Baptist State Association from 2009 to 2011 and then served as President from 2011 to 2013. He has been on several mission trips including to China, Uganda, Ghana, Isreal, Canada, and here in the USA.
He and his wife Sheila have been married since 1991 and have four children, Christopher (Katie), Jordan (Kyle), Micah, and Eden who they adopted from China. They also have one grandson, Jackson. For fun Jonathan enjoys spending time with family and friends, meeting new people from different cultural backgrounds, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and traveling. However, his favorite thing is to spend time with his grandson.
Director of Preschool and Children
Jenny has been serving here at FBCC as our Preschool and Children’s Director since September of 2007. She is originally from Pinckneyville Illinois and moved to St. Peters when she was 14. She has received her bachelor’s degree in Christian education from Missouri Baptist University, and a Master of Art in Christian Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jenny has one daughter, Evy, who she adopted from China in 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, geocaching, and playing board games.
Associate Pastor of Worship
Derick has been our Associate Pastor of Worship since October of 2023. He has been in the ministry since 2005 and has been doing it full time since 2013. He is originally from Bismark Missouri but moved to this area in 2023 when he started at FBCC. He has served as Worship Pastor in three different states, Missouri, Oklahoma, and here in Illinois. He received his Associate of Arts from Mineral Area College. He and his wife Cindy have been married since 2000, and they have two children, and one grandson. During his down time, he enjoys kayak fishing, and camping.
Building & Grounds Director
Taff started serving here at FBCC in 2023 as our Building and Grounds director. He is originally from New Athens Illinois and moved to this area in 1982. He and his wife Vicki have been married since 1992 and have two children. In his spare time Taff enjoys cooking and bowling, and he even owned a restaurant and catering company for 2 years. He also owned a DJ company for 25 years, so it’s always a party when he’s around.
Ministry Assistant
Pam started serving here at FBCC in 2025 as our Ministry Assistant. She is originally from Spanish Lake Missouri and moved to this area in 2003. She and her husband Dan have been married since 2008 and have six children and have attended FBCC the last 4 years. In her spare time Pam enjoys spending time with family, reading, and cooking. She also previously worked at Anheuser-Busch as a manager for 24 years. Pam is the glue that keeps the office together and we’re so thankful to have her on the Team!
Part-Time Position | 16 hours per week
The Communications Coordinator helps tell the story of our church by managing digital and print communications, social media, and visual branding. This role maintains the church website, creates engaging graphics, oversees social media posts, and ensures consistent communication across all platforms. The position also supports the team by assisting with phone coverage and providing clear, creative, and mission-driven communication that connects people to the life of the church.
Requirements:
Experience with design tools (Canva, Photoshop, etc.), social media management, and website editing preferred. Strong creativity, organization, and communication skills are essential. Attendance at weekly staff meetings required.
